Giacomo Agostini

He was born in Brescia in 1942. He made his debut in motorcycle racing in 1961 at the age of nineteen. He dominated the World Championship from 1966 to 1975, winning a staggering 15 World Championship titles, eight in the 500 cc category and seven in 350 cc (thirteen on the MV Agusta and two with Yamaha). He won a total of 122 Grand Prix races and also 18 Italian Championship titles. Nobody has ever bettered these achievements.
In 1978 he made the switch to cars, competing in Formula 2 and Formula Aurora, the gateway to Formula 1. At the end of his racing career he went on to set up his own World Motorcycling Championship team and took three titles as Team Manager.
He now lives in Bergamo, is married, has two children and runs a successful construction business.
